I just got into a conversation with several people that are following along and interacting with the PAC on the Peary Court debacle…

They say the PAC is now spewing out propaganda that they are not in the affordable housing business, and that means they just jumped the low income legality of specially designated entities like Key West Housing Authority. KWHA can’t and won’t do Peary Court because they do not have the legal right to compete at that level of income and rent. They know they would get shut down by the courts.

By doing so, the City doing Peary Court places them in direct competition with private industry. These PAC folks are now saying they are allowed to do this as “workforce housing”. They say they say they have the right to just look at the Bahama Village Trust. I said that’s not the city buying housing and then renting and managing it aimed at tenants in the $84,000 a year income category. That’s the court allowing them to step in a manage a property because folks were stealing from it. Peary Court is different, owning and renting at that level is socialism. The City will then have become developers and landlords in direct competition with private industry.

These folks said PAC was spewing the lie that they could rent these 157 units for $1400 a month, that folks with incomes as low as $40,000 a year qualified…

I cried “bullshit”, they already have said they would charge $2400 a month, and that at $2400/month that’s $28,800 a year in rent alone. No $40,000 a year workforce clone can afford that. And who are these $40,000 a month folks anyway? They don’t drive buses, they are Jimmy Weekly’s clerks. Assuming Arguendo that $40K income is acceptable and enough, it is not, then that is about $2600 a month take home. That means even at $1400 a month a $40K worker has $1200 a month left. And that all is based on the fairy tale the City will qualify for a loan at that $1400 rent on a $45,000,000 loan. They can’t.

Then I said, out of 6 banks the City approached, only one would even think about loaning $45,000,000 for Peary Court. And that was if equivalent city assets were “guaranteed” against it. Why didn’t the other banks even bite? Because the City is talking about illegally competing with private enterprise for median to high income consumer housing. There is no Federal or Florida law that shields the City from getting a cease and desist order against renting when they are sued for being in completion with private industry. The City of Gainesville actually got sued by the Florida Department of Revenue over the City of Gainesville trying to use an internal telecommunications network to compete for internet services consumers, i.e. to be an Internet Service Provider (ISP) against Comcast, ATT, and such. As soon as the City opens up shop to rent to workforce housing, when in fact they are saying they know it has to rent to $84,000 a year folks, every developer will scream bloody murder. And the Federal Courts, State Courts will shut that all down in no time.

The fact is, this whole Peary Court thing is stupid. Nobody will vote to approve this going forward. No bank will lend any money for this to the City. And if the City could get that far down the road, then rich private developers and landlords will barbeque the City for competing against them. The very same City that taxes them.

Whatever people are thinking, City Commissioner Jimmy Weekly and his WorkFarce Housing PAC confederates, and the mayor and the other city commissioners, and the city manager and the city attorney are not in the least worried about being sued for infringing on private enterprise. Theoretically, that might be a solid cause of action. Actually, I just don’t see Pritam Singh, or any developer down here, giving a rat’s ass about suing the city for buying Peary Court, if the voters approve the purchase. What I do see very well might happen, if the referendum is passed, a local bank changes its spots and lends the needed money to the city. What I see very well might happen, if the referendum is defeated, is the current Peary Court owners sue Key West for taking their valuable real estate via not letting them redevelop it like the city lets everyone else who buys real estate here and wants to redevelop it, do so. Might be fun defending that lawsuit, but it would be hard for the city to deny it did indeed not let the owners redevelop Peary Court and there is a cause of action and the only real issue is the amount of the owners’ damages.

I don’t know how Kari can summon the strength to go thru all that has happened to her. Very troubling, and yet inspiring. I could not cope with it. Can’t she get out of KW and start over? It’s absurd what is going on. There must be something that can change this situation.
No one deserves this kind of neglect and I guess you are trying your best to help and it’s very admirable. DAMN! This has been going on too long. Since I’ve never met her, I just don’t know what else to say, Sloan , but this appears to be a hellish situation and I hope she prevails. I’m glad a few are helping.

Kari’s done plenty in the past to cause herself a great deal of grief, but nothing she has told me about herself justifies in any way the harsh treatment she has received from the local criminal justice system and the people running KOTS, and I hope their karma, as two groups and as individuals within the two groups, is commensurate with her suffering. She was at the hospital this morning waiting for the lab to open so they could take blood and test it for what the surgeon ordered as part of preparing to do the surgery to close the fistula between her intestine and female plumbing. Mike Tolbert came into the hospital lobby. The rest of the day, Kari was destabilized. Her entire being reacted to seeing Mike. That includes her unconscious and her soul, who know Mike far better than he knows himself. Kari’s full-being destabilization was all I needed to see to know Mike sent the hit man to rape Kari. But who’d believe me on that? I can’t say I know anyone in the Florida Keys who is capable of learning the truth about something in the ways I go about it.

I told Kari, that encounter today worked both ways. Mike was jolted by seeing Kari. He needs plenty more jolting. Angel kind. That’s the only way “justice” will be had in that situation. Same for how Kari was treated by the local criminal justice system. And, I’m not letting anyone off who knew of Kari’s plight and could have helped her in some way or another, but did not. There could be a great deal of wailing and gnashing of teeth because of how Kari has been treated here, and it might be the karma will not be seen has having anything to do with Kari. I don’t know which is more just, the receiver of karma knowing why it came, or not knowing? Both ways are a bitch.

When I think about what Kari has suffered here in the Florida Keys, it makes, for me, the Peary Court workfarce referendum about as relevant as a dog shitting on a sidewalk.

As for Kari leaving the Florida Keys, she said her probation officer told her she can transfer her probation to anywhere in Florida, where she has a place to live, but not in a homeless shelter; or she can move out of state, if it is to live with close relatives. Otherwise, she’s stuck here, living on the street, sleeping nights on the ground, because she is banned from KOTS; Samuel’s House and Florida Keys Outreach Coalition will not let her into their programs; her church, and other churches, declined to let her sleep nights inside their quarters; and no person came forward offering her a place to sleep on their property, or under a carport, or inside; and, to be blunt, she is doing far more for this city, at the soul level, than all but a very few people here, by feeding me the dirt on a lot of things going on, which need to be exposed.

For example, just today, Kari went into the convenience store on the corner of North Roosevelt Blvd and Kennedy Drive, to find a line backed up at the cash register, because the local rabbi, who often makes the headlines, was there cashing in on lottery tickets he had won. The same local rabbi who went to the jail and got the non-practicing part Jew alleged murderess drug addict stripper prostitute April Thomason, one of Mike Tolbert’s favorite sex and drug party ladies, a diet of meat, milk, green vegetables and fresh fruit, which is not fed to gentile or Christian inmates, and that nice rabbi knew that and could give a shit. After all, I suppose, the Jews are God’s chosen people, even Christians mostly believe that, so Jews are entitled to special privileges, even if they are non-practicing partial Jews like April Thomason, who just happened to have known this rabbi for many years, and had his cell phone number, and called him from the jail and he came running, while Kari was being cruelly and unusually tortured by the jail food and infirmary and its Rose Chan Pretend, M.D., and, my goodness, is not that a fertile garden to root around in.

Meanwhile, maybe a bunch of people who contracted MRSA in Key West/Florida Keys should get a lawyer to bring a class action lawsuit against the various local governments for allowing the ocean to become polluted via inept human sewerage treatment. I imagine heaps of local physicians would testify they treat patients ongoing for MRSA. And they tell their patients not to go into the ocean. What a headliner that lawsuit would be - the local politicos, chambers of commerce, elected officials, tourist development councils, water sports and lodging industries would dance with glee when the national TV news channels aired that out.

The most well known high IQ society is Mensa. To join Mensa one must score in the top 2% of a standardized IQ test. That really isn’t all that outstanding. One out of 50 people have IQs high enough to join Mensa.

Numerical IQ scores are not an accurate indicator of intelligence. For instance a score of 72 on the U.S. Navy GCT test is about equal to score of 150 on the WAIS (Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale). Percentile IQ scores are a more informative measurement.

Way back during the 2004 presidential election I wrote an article that shook up the major news networks and the New York Times. I was able to document that George Bush had a higher IQ score and better grades than John Kerry. I belong to one of those high IQ societies, and I am a psychotherapist, so I have a credible background to evaluate Mr. Trump, even though my opinions are speculative.

Please keep in mind that IQ is a measure of intellect not character. I will comment on Donald Trump’s character later in this article.

Donald Trump graduated from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1968, with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and anthropology. Mensa doesn’t accept SAT scores from after 1994. However Mr Trump was a student at Wharton when it was possible to derive an accurate IQ core from known SAT scores. Given the usual requirements for admission to a top school like Wharton, I estimate that Mr. Trump has a 156 IQ at the minimum.

The standard description of this level of intelligence is “Genius – Exception intellectual ability and capable of looking beyond known facts.” However, the percentile rating is more revealing than the raw score. A 156 IQ is at the 99.9905490555 percentile. That means that Donald Trump is smarter than 99.99 percent of the people on planet earth. Not only does Trump qualify for membership in Mensabut he could join the Triple Nine Society.

People with this kind of intellectual ability can do things with their minds that can’t even be described to ordinary people. Remember that quote from the above paragraph, “capable of looking beyond known facts?” These highly intelligent minds process and organize data into solutions and insights, and the individual person is not even consciously aware of the process. The cartoon light bulb that goes on over someone’s head happens to people like Mr. Trump on a regular basis. I would not be surprised if Mr Trump’s IQ actually measures significantly higher than the minimum estimate mentioned above.

Enough about how smart Mr. Trump is. I was motivated to write this article because of the personality traits that are revealed in Mr. Trump’s behavior. His character traits are every bit as fascinating as his intellect.

Abraham Maslow, the American Psychologist and philosopher best known for his self-actualization theory of psychology, spent most of his professional career trying to identify what was right with people, rather than looking at pathology. Maslow did extensive research to define the traits of a “self actualized” person. My wife and professional partner is also a high IQ person. She makes the point that a better term is “self actualizing,” correctly pointing out that there isn’t state of personality to be achieved, but rather the individual is in the process of becoming his best self.

Donald Trump’s observable behavior informs us about the degree to which he is “self actualizing.” Quote from a Psychology Professor I once had; “People are not who you think they are. People are not who they think they are. People are what they do. That is why this is called a behavioral science”. Forget the labels. They are all misleading. Pay attention to the behavior.

Here are some examples of the Traits of a Self Actualized Person, from Maslow’s own research:

• They resist enculturation.

Self-actualizers tend to be nonconformists,since they are inner-directed people. If a cultural norm is contrary to their personal values, they simply will not adhere to it.

They are almost always loners, or leaders. They are never joiners. Yup. That sounds like the “Donald” to me!

• They are creative.

Maslow found this trait in all of the self-actualizers.

“This is a universal characteristic of all the people studied or observed. There is no exception. This creativeness appears in some of our subjects not in the usual forms of writing books, composing music, or producing artistic objects … It is as if this special type of creativeness being an expression of healthy personality is projected out upon the world, or touches whatever activity the person isengaged in. In this sense there can be creative shoemakers or carpenters or clerks. This creativity comes from the fact that self-actualizers are more open to experience and more spontaneous in their feelings.”

Yes, Donald is always coming up with new creative ways of seeing things differently and solving problems.

• They are autonomous and therefore tend to be independent of their environment.

“Because self-actualizers are B-motivated rather than D-motivated, they are more dependent on their own inner world than on the outer world. Deficiency motivated people must have other people available since most of their main need gratifications (love safety. respect, prestige, belongingness) can come only from other human beings. But growth motivated [B-motivated] people may actually be hampered by others. The determinants of satisfaction, and of the good life, are for them inner &individual, and not social. They have become strong enough to be independent of the good opinion of other people, or even of their affection. The honors, the status, the rewards, the popularity, the prestige and the loveothers can bestow must have become less important than self-development and inner growth.”

Donald frequently says that he doesn’t plan what he is going to say. It is obvious that his strategy is to simply be authentic.

• They have a strong ethical sense.

Although their notions of right and wrong are often unconventional, self-actualizers, nonetheless almost always know the ethical implications of their own actions.

Right and wrong (good and evil) are part of every decision Donald makes.

• They tend to accept democratic values.

Self-actualizers do not respond to individuals on the basis of race, status or religion. They can be and are friendly with anyone of suitable character regardless of class, education, political belief, race or color. As a matter of fact, it often seems as if they are not even aware of these differences,which are for the average person so obvious and important.

Donald is as likely to treat his chauffeur or secretary as equitably as CEOs or politicians.

• They tend to identify with all of mankind.

The concerns that self-actualizers have for other people do not extend only to their friends and family, but to all people in all cultures throughout the world. This feeling of brotherhood extends also to individuals who are aggressive, inconsiderate, or otherwise foolish. Self-actualizers have a genuine desire to help the human race.

Donald consistently shows a universality of concern for all people.

• They exhibit spontaneity, simplicity and naturalness.

Self-actualizers tend to be true to their feelings; what they really feel they tend to say and/or experience. They do not hide behind a mask, and do not act in accordance with social roles. They are true to themselves, speaking candidly and authentically.

One of the traits that makes Donald so popular with voters is that he is “real.”

There are many other observations to be made about Mr. Trump being a “self actualizing” person. However, let it suffice to observe that Donald Trump is a brilliant man with a healthy personality. It should be pointed out that “self-actualizing” people are not what most human resources departments are looking for. Most executives want those who will follow the manual and fit into the corporate culture. That does not describe Donald Trump.

Maybe the voters of America share some of the same biases as executives. Perhaps what we need is a rebel genius with self actualized traits to be our President. Lord knows we have tried enough of the other kind of leader.

I kinda doubt radical Islam wants Trump elected President. If he gets elected President and is half as smart at the good psychotherapist soothsayer claims, he will parrot Ross Perot and leave Islam the fuck alone, and let its divided factions roil around in the huge giant sucking vacuum sound of America having taken all of its toys and gone home, until the divided in Allah they all trust factions kill each other off and - viola! - Trump’s genius is proven when he is awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
