In mid-June 1995, when I was 53 years old, three visions flopped out of me. The first came when a younger woman friend tried to induce me into a past-life regression, which she was certain I needed to experience to get to the bottom of what was ailing me. Instead, I lived the first vision below, as if I was Joseph. Toward the end of the vision, I was so emotional that I was heaving and sobbing and had to rest before the vision could proceed, and I was fending off my friend, who kept trying to interject her this is a past life regression view into what I was certain was way beyond her and my experience and thinking.
of men, wolves and eagles …
Once upon a time there lived a man named Joseph, who grew tired of living with people and left his village and went into the woods to live. By and by, a wolf pack discovered Joseph and over time got to know him and that he was not like other men, and eventually they took him into their pack. The leader of the pack was a red wolf named David, and soon David and Joseph became fast friends, and they hunted and played and slept together like . . . wolves. Then one day, the men in the village where Joseph had lived learned from hunters that Joseph was living with wolves. The men decided it was not right for a man to go off and live in the woods and run with with wolves, so they got their guns and set off to find Joseph and bring him back to the village, to live like a man. The men came upon the wolf pack sleeping in the sun next to a bluff. The wind was blowing off the bluff, away from the wolf pack toward the men, which prevented the pack from scenting the men as they approached. By the time the wolf pack realized the men were there, the men had the pack surrounded, pinned against the bluff. David wanted to order the pack to attacl, but Joseph said, “No, I am a man, they will listen to reason, let me go and speak with them.” Although David did not like this idea, he agreed to it because Joseph was a man. But the men would not listen to reason and they shot and killed the entire pack and took Joseph heartbroken back to the village. Joseph languished in the village for many weeks, blaming himself for the death of his pack. Then he had a dream in which he sees David’s face. David is angry, but says nothing, just stares. Finally, Joseph blurts out that he did the best he knew how to do, and he’s so sorry for the way it turned out! David says, “Better that we attacked and died like wolves, than be slaughtered like sheep!” Then Joseph is back with the pack, against the bluff, surrounded by the men. David says he wants the pack to attack. Joseph says, “And I will lead the charge!” Then they hear a voice, the whole pack hears it, say, “There is another way, ask for another way.” Never before have Joseph, David or the pack had such a thing happen, but Joseph asks for another way. Suddenly, a great bolt of lightning strikes the ground between the pack and the men, stirring up a huge cloud of dust. As the wolves and men wait, the dust begins to settle, and in it begins to take the shape of something huge, even as the wolves and Joseph now see a pair of red eyes peering from the bushes behind the men. Then a second pair of red eyes. Then a third pair. Then ten pair. Then a hundred pair. Then a legion of . . . wolves’ eyes. The men now are moved by some force to turn around and see what the now delirious pack already see. Then the men turn back around and find themselves face to face with a great towering eagle, whose piercing golden eyes penetrate their hearts. Then they hear, “These are my battle angels. You may leave this place and go back to your village, taking your guns with you, on condition that you tell everyone what has happened here today, and that no man should ever hunt wolves again, who are not hunting men.” To this condition the men readily agree, and they return to their village and tell everyone what happened, and they go to nearby villages and tell it, and from that day on men do not hunt wolves.
Two days later, accompanied by the same younger woman, who was again trying to take me into a past-life regression, the second vision came, with much the same going on inside of me, and with me fending off the younger woman.
something about lions …
Once upon a time there lived a woman named Alya. She was the medicine woman in her tribe, using herbs and poultices and spirit ways to help her people. Yet she had one flaw: she hated lions, because a lion had killed her father. Her hatred caused her to cast spells against lions, which caused her husband great concern. He often told Alya that her war with lions was going to get her into big trouble, but she was a medicine woman, she knew the ways of the spirits, and she did not listen to her husband. One day while Alya was out gathering herbs, she spotted a lion sunning himself in tall grasses on the savannah. She hatched a scheme in her mind to sneak up on the lion and cast a spell on him, which would enable her to steal his spirit and have it for herself. As she crept closer to the lion, she began chanting softly and seeing in her mind’s eye her spell taking over the lion. However, she was so focused on what she was doing, that she did not see in her mind’s eye the lion’s mate returning from hunting. Nor did she see the lioness catch her sent, drop her kill from her mouth to the ground, and circle around behind. Too late, Alya realized her peril, just as the lioness took her from behind. Next thing Alya knows, she is in the spirit world, standing before the Lion Spirit. Trembling with terror, Alya wants to run away, but the Lion Spirit speaks to her heart, says, “There is something you do not yet know.” Then Alya is back on the savannah, watching a hunter from her tribe sneaking up on a nest of lion cubs, whose parents are away hunting. The hunter has a twisted spirit, and decides to kill the lion cubs just for the fun of doing it, even though killing any animal just for sport is taboo in his tribe, which worships the Lion Spirit. On returning to his village, the hunter tells no one what he has done. When the lion and lioness return to their nest and find their dead cubs, they are enraged. They catch the hunter’s scent and track him back to the edge of the village, where the lion hides in a thicket and begins roaring and bellowing out his rage over what has happened. The hunter knows why the lion is there, doing that, but still he tells no one. Alya’s father, the tribe’s leader, prepares to go out and face and kill the lion, because it his duty to protect his tribe from marauding lions. And so he sets out to face the lion, even as the hunter lets him go without saying what has happened to bring this about, and that a lioness is also out there with the lion. Alya’s father quickly finds and confronts the lion, and is preparing to kill it with his spear, when he is taken from behind by the lioness. In her horror, Alya helplessly watches on, even as she now realizes that her hatred of lions was completely misplaced. She feels awful. Then suddenly she is back on the savannah, stalking the lion whose spirit she once wanted to steal for herself. The lion looks up, stares into Alya’s eyes. She shakes all over, is terrified, but does not look away. Then something takes hold of her, she says to the lion, “I have lost my father and you have lost your cubs. I will be your cub.” The lion looks deep into Alya’s spirit, nods, says, “And I will be your father, and will always protect your front.” Then beside the lion is the lioness, who says to Alya, “And I will always protect your back.”
Maybe two days later, I lay down on my bed and was spirit-induced into the third vision, after feeling something was headed my way from the spirit world. This vision, too, was quite emotional toward the end.
the gift …
A sleeping man dreams he sees the back of a young yogi meditating in the lotus position. Before the young yogi appear two cobras, raised up, hoods flaired. One cobra is pure white, the other pure black. Both beautiful. The white cobra says to the young yogi, “We came to you once before because you were innocent, and you knew we brought a gift and you believed you had to chose one of us and you chose me.” The black cobra says, “We come before you again because you now are wise.” The young yogi, now very advanced in years, weeps, chooses them both. The sleeping man, now an old man, awakens, crying.
Those three visions were burned into my soul. A number of times I have sat down and typed them out, when I was not able to find a copy of them already in print, and they were close to verbatim of the originals. The copies above, however, I found today at www.goodmorningfloridakeys.com.
Were the 3 visions past life regressions? I felt they were shaman visions, I still feel that way. However, I may have lived in those regions and times, and I may have been involved in those sorts of things, and maybe they were past life regressions in some sense.
What initially prompted me to look for the 3 visions was meeting a young man on a Key West City Transit shuttle bus headed from Key West to Marathon. He was wearing a necklace with an eagle pendant, and he had a belt with an eagle buckle. Powerful medicine, I said. He said the eagle was his spirit animal. One of mine, too, I said, and the wolf. He should consider the wolf also. He said he would do that.
He said his name was Evan, and his father was Lee Rohe, a local lawyer. I said I knew Lee pretty well, and I somewhat knew his brother “Tuna”, a shaman in New Mexico, with whom I had had a few conversations. The young man looked a bit startled, said Tuna’s birth name was Richard. I said, yes, I was having trouble recalling that.
I said Lee had told me that he and Richard were born on Key Largo, and Lee ended up having a pretty straight life, while Richard was grabbed by the spirit world, which eventually led to him ending up in New Mexico and meeting Native American shamans, who brought him into their midst and taught him their ways. I said Lee had introduced me to Richard. Lee lives on Big Pine Key, his law office is on Summerland Key.
Another twist to this adventure, when the 3 visions came to me in mid-June 1995, and I lived them fully, and I do mean fully, I was married to a woman whose 12-year-old son, Evan, yes, Evan, I was trying to help raise and, through my not of this world experiences, provide him with a perspective he otherwise might never have a chance to experience. I taught Evan some basic inside spirit work, which he learned easily and used it when he needed to summon spirit help. Evan and his mother were especially smitten by the wolf and eagle vision, as was I. About a week after it and the other two visions came, a 4-year long dark night of the soul I was in lifted during a family vacation on Jamaica.
When my lady love Kari was in the DTs, in the county jail on Stock Island, she had a vision of going to Saturn, where I was, and I was attired in dreadlocks, with three friends also in dreadlocks. I had major experiences with Rastafarians, when I was in Jamaica, which were part of the lifting of the dark night of the soul.
Bob Marley
Dreadlocks are Rastafarian men’s hair style, symbolizeing a male lion’s mane, or, the Lion of Judah, or, Jesus.
When I shared the lion vision with a Jamaican Rastafarian, who operated a little outdoor restaurant on the side of the road leading up the hill to the motel in Port Antonio, where we were staying, he was kinda blown away, me being a white man. Maybe he was more blown away when shared with him a vision I’d only just had, of two killer whales coming from the ocean into Port Antonio. The Rastafarian said there was something I could not know. On the east coast of Africa was a village, where annually a male and female killer whale come in from the sea to that village and the villagers celebrate that. I asked the Rastafarian, who was the Lioness of Judah? He did not know. I said, Mary Magdalene, Jesus’ wife, an emanation of the Holy Spirit.
The younger woman, who had tried to get me to have past life regressions, had told me I was going to be having dealings with Rastafarians in Jamaica. When Kari found me on Saturn, I had with me animals from all over the creation. Saturn is the second largest planet. In my spirit code, 2 is Jesus.
The next twist in the wolf and eagle vision came earlier today, as I was slowly writing a poem to Kari, who is in jail for violating her probation, because she was drinking vodka, and a condition of her probation was she not drink any kind of booze. The end of the poem, which pretty much wrote itself through me, brought the wolf and eagle vision back in living technicolor and emotions, which told me to employ the wisdom of that vision in Kari’s and my relationship and current situation.
Then, I got the sense all 3 visions were in play.
Then, I saw a storm building and heading into Key West, and I was seized to head back up the Keys to where I stay on Cudjoe Key, with my friend Todd German, to avoid getting soaked waiting at a bus stop later in the day. On that bus was Evan, the son of my lawyer friend Lee Rohe, the brother of Tuna Rohe, the New Mexico white shaman.
I had seen Evan a number of times on the shuttle bus, and had told him about the wolf and eagle vision, but not the details, and I would email it to Lee, to pass along to Evan, but I was having a hard time locating the wolf and eagle on my websites, and so I never sent it to Lee. When I saw Evan on the shuttle bus today, I understood why he kept being on the shuttle, prompting me to find the wolf and eagle vision. I told Evan that on the bus today, and about my stepson Evan, and that I would do my best to find the wolf and eagle vision, and get it to Lee.
Arriving at Todd’s home, I went online, found the 3 visions on my website, and created this page at goodmorningkeywest.com. I will copy this page and paste it into an email to Lee, for him to pass it along to Evan. When Evan reads it, he will know why he and I met on the shuttle bus, and kept meeting there, and why, when I was getting off the bus that day we first met, I said I wondered why he and I had met? There had to be a reason. Evan said he tended not to believe in coincidences, and I said I did not think there was such thing as coincidences, everything is arranged. Evan did not disagree.
What do I know, maybe the spirit world has in mind making Evan into a shaman.
