Last night, my dream maker pointed me toward “young women” for today’s post, including my old unrequited heart-throb Aphrodite, who chose to be the masthead for my mayor campaign in 2009, by bursting topless into Hometown PAC’s Call to Candidates, at Salute Ristorante on Higgs Beach, and shouting, “Nude Beaches for Key West! Sloan for mayor!”

Editor of Key West’s beloved culture magazine, Solares Hill, sadly no more, took a photo of Aphrodite in all of her glory, and it appeared on the front page of the next morning’s Key West Citizen. I heard Mark and Tom Tuell, the Citizen’s Editor, caught hell for that photo. But I doubt that had anything to do with the Citizen discontinuing Solares Hill. What had to do with that was the Citizen’s uncultured capitalistic bosses on the mainland.
Later, the Citizen’s unclutured bosses axed the feature of the electronic version of the Citizen, which allowed reader comments, much like Key West the Newspaper (thebluepaper.com) allows reader comments today. Reader comments under the Citizen’s “hot” articles tended to be more entertaining and more informative than the articles themselves.

FKAA approves deep well plan
The Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority board requested Wednesday that the Monroe County Commission fund a roughly $6 million deep injection well for the Cudjoe Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant.
A majority of the county commission said Wednesday it could approve the funding now that the science has proven the need. The county commission had been holding off on funding the deep well at the plant on Blimp Road, despite requests of many residents and environmental groups, because there was no scientific proof that the deep well was needed, commissioners said.
The Aqueduct Authority board and Monroe County Commission contracted Florida International University (FIU) to conduct a tracer study to determine whether a deeper injection well, which would send the treated effluent hundreds of feet deeper into the ground and take it away from the groundwater table, was needed at the plant.
The Aqueduct Authority board was presented a study conducted by FIU professor Henry Briceno that states that “a connection between injection depth and surface waters may exist at the injection site.”
“I don’t see a problem with funding it,” County Commissioner Sylvia Murphy said of the deep well. “If evidence showed that a deep well was needed, we would fund it. We have the money. If this was about public opinion, and not science, I would say no. There has to be a valid reason.”
Even though the Cudjoe treatment plant has been permitted to utilize four shallow injection wells, the Aqueduct Authority board decided Wednesday, in an abundance of caution, that the protection of the fragile environment of the Florida Keys requires the installation of a deep well, commissioners said.
The state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) requires that a deep well is built if the average daily flow of treated effluent is more than a 1 million gallons a day. There has been a disagreement about whether the average daily flow at the Cudjoe plant would reach 1 million, with the Aqueduct Authority claiming it wouldn’t.
The original plans called for digging four shallow wells, which would only pump the treated effluent to roughly 120 feet deep. But the deep well the Aqueduct Authority board approved would push the water 2,000 feet below the surface into the boulder zone.
The Aqueduct Authority board’s decision comes after Cudjoe Key fishermen Mike Laudicina recently filed lawsuits in both state and federal court pushing for the deep injections wells.
Laudicina’s attorney Caron Balkany said it would be premature at this time to withdraw the lawsuits, but she still wants to know when the well would be built and if the shallow injections wells, which are already constructed, would be used until the deep well is completed.
“The main hurdle has overcome with the Aqueduct Authority board agreeing to the deep well,” Balkany said. “This is a great victory for citizen activism. The community stood up for itself and the environment, and won. Thanks to everyone.”

KEY WEST — Minutes after a police officer told him to move along for trespassing, a homeless man this week made a 911 call seeking a ride to his doctor’s office, police reported. Police decided to arrest David Hammack, 51, who faces charges of trespassing and misuse of the emergency communications system.On Friday, Hammackremained at the Stock Island jail on $2,000 bond.
The incident began at about 12:38 p.m. Wednesday outside Dante’s restaurant and bar, 951 Caroline St., where a manager said a man was refusing to leave the property. The manager said he asked the man twice if he needed medical help, but he insisted he did not.
An officer told Hammack to leave the property and not return. If he did, police told him, he would be arrested. About three minutes after, Officer Michael Chaustit said he received word from dispatch that a 911 call had just been made at the New Market, 900 Caroline St. Hammack had persuaded a clerk there to place the call to 911 for him, according to a police report.
“Hammack stated he wanted a ride to the doctor’s and did not have the money to pay a doctor,” Chaustit reported. Chaustit handcuffed Hammack and placed him in the back of his patrol car.
Since 2001, Hammack hasbeen arrested 33 times in Key West, according to the sheriff’s office. Several times over the years, he has listed his occupation as cosmetology, an accountant and hairdresser.

Wow, wonder how much Hammack has cost the taxpayers in police officer time, jail time, public defender time, city prosecutor time, court time, hospital time? Wow, wonder if this latest arrest will turn him around? Of course not. Wow, wonder what can be done to change this? Nothing, absent a Divine Intervention.

I wrote to someone yesterday, “Addiction is a tough road, based on my observations of close relatives and close friends, who were alcoholics. Some still are. I applaud anyone who can stop using, and stays clean. But I think it’s still a difficult road for them, unless they are infused with something, which I call the feminine, Christians might call it the Holy Spirit, not realizing it is the Divine Feminine.”

When it seemed we might become an item, I asked Kari Dangler, who is homeless and an alcoholic, if she remembered her dreams? Yes, she said. I said, if we become an item, her dreams will change; they will become messages to her from the angels. That’s what happened. Her dreams are clear, she needs to change her ways, and she and I are supposed to be together. Even so, I remain of the view that it will take a miracle to help Kari, and given the money shortage, it will take another miracle for us to be able to live together.

Sloan Bashinsky Don’t know if it’s relevant to your and my discussion, but you mentioned September 11, so will say, during the night of September 9-10, 2001, in my sleep, a familiar voice asked me, “Will you make a prayer for Divine Intervention for all of humanity?” I woke up, wondering what that was about? I made the prayer. On September 11, I learned why I had been asked to make the prayer. I’m still wondering if the prayer was answered, and, if so, how it was, is, being answered? -

Sloan Bashinsky Yes, Divine Intervention is continuous and ongoing, even if it is not recognized, but my sense just before 9/11/2001 was something extra was in order. I’m now wondering if perhaps a human had to request it, for it to be implemented? I wasn’t thinking Buddhism when I made the prayer back in 1987. I was thinking desperation. The offer of my life to human service was kinda like an … afterthought. Like, maybe the prayer would sound better, if I had that in it? Like maybe, if I couldn’t make my life up to then work, I might make it in human service? In Buddhism is the bodhisattva prayer, in which a lama, for example, vows to keep coming back to this planet in human forms, until all sentient beings here reach enlightenment. https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=bodhisattva Once upon a time, it came to me that the vow came about when a lama realized late in life that he would not get off the karmic wheel in that life, this was not welcome realization, so as a consolation prize, face-saving is another way to look at it, he invented the boddhisattva vow, which was mission impossible, because all sentient beings never will reach enlightenment on this planet. I had a friend in Colorado, when I lived there, who was not Buddhist, who was of the same view. Whether or not we had our heads where the sun didn’t shine, I never learned, for sure. The angels never corrected me about it. Perhaps they will in a dream tonight. If I put something up to them, in this way, and they say nothing back, that means they are okay with my position.

Sloan Bashinsky I don’t know. Human beings are here, on the planet, to evolve, individually, and, I suppose, collectively, although I don’t see the collective evolving; rather the opposite. Some individuals are evolving, who cut themselves, or are cut out, of the collective (herd). A dream earlier tonight reminded me of a poem that fell out of me in mid-April 2001, after I was told in my sleep, “You will fail, but you might enter the Kingdom of God.” I awoke, devastated. The desperate prayer I’d made in early 1987, which you said sort of reminded you of a Buddhist prayer, started, “Dear God, please help me, I don’t want to die like this, failed” Then, I added, “I offer my life to human service.” Anyway, below is the poem that came to me at the county library a few hours after I was told, “You will fail, but you might enter the Kingdom of God.

Sloan Bashinsky A Swiss past friend of mine, Martin Kalff, son of Dora Kalff, who founded Sandplay Therapy, was a Tibetan Buddhist when I knew him. I was in Zurich in the summer of 1988, with my wife who was one of Dora’s students. She was there for a 1-month training, as were perhaps 20 of Dora’s other students. We went to a Tibetan temple one day, and after that I asked Martin where God fit into Buddhist practices/theology? Martin said there was no concept of God in Buddhism. Later, I think, I read of when someone had asked Buddha about God?, he had said that was too big of a subject to talk about. Another time I read, or was told, Buddha said he was not a deity, and a teacher greater than he would come. That teacher was Jesus, who was not a deity either, but he was a heck of a lot closer to God than the people he was arranged to try to reach.

Sloan Bashinsky Many years ago, I read somewhere of the Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung being at a party, and someone asked him if he believed in God? Jung replied, “Believe? I know!” As do I know. There is no way I could not know, after the countless (tens of thousands) of supernatural experiences I have had. Yet I can’t tell you what God looks like, nor thinks like, because I never have laid eyes on God, nor have I ever heard God speak directly to me. Nor has any other human being on this planet. But I have laid eyes on and heard from angels, and that’s all the proof I need to know and not merely believe. Or disbelieve. Or not know.
Meanwhile …
During a bridge party yesterday afternoon in the Senior Citizen Center next to the Harvey Government Center on Truman Avenue, one of the elder women citizens said something about yesterday being Good Friday. I said I have long wondered why it is called that, when I can’t imagine Jesus thought and felt anything good about being nailed to a tree. Someone else at the table said it was a good Friday because it led to Jesus being resurrected Sunday following. I thought of something else to say, but didn’t.
Last night on The History Channel,
I watched a fairly intelligent, I thought, presentation for why earth scientists should be looking to the stars for answers to why and how human beings came to live on this planet. Basically, Earth human DNA is so complex and exquisite, that it could not possibly have happened by chance; and there are plenty of ancient artifacts around the world, indicating ancient humans had engagements with beings from other stars - ETs.
Although I know for a fact that ETs exist, I kept wondering why the producers of the program didn’t make the leap to angels being the reasons human beings exist, not only on this planet, but perhaps even elsewhere in some form or another? Why didn’t the producers give angels the credit for having designed the star-traveling ETs? I mean, how did they get started? They were made by even more ancient ETs? And, who got that started? Eventually, you have to move past the chemical/biological realm, to a realm this planet’s scientists have yet to acknowledge. And once you get to angels, you wonder how they came to be?
Today is March 28. I have to be out of this house, and the small room I rent here, by March 31. The angels must find all of this really entertaining. As for me …
