man o' war bird

From yesterday’s singularities, spiritual healing, unlocked wards, pooping on paradise, inmates running free – Key West and the Florida Keys post:

“I usually get off the shuttle bus at the corner of N. Roosevelt Blvd and Palm Ave., and walk from there to the organic community garden behind May Sands School, where I keep my bicycle locked up at night, so it won’t get stolen. As I neared the Key West police station today, I looked up and saw a man o’ war bird overhead, the kind with the white head and black body. Then I saw another one. They were together. I said, oh shit. For they mean I’m going to be spiritually attacked. They also mean good fishing. I wonder what it will look like when it comes today?”

I replied this morning:

Jerry, today I’m leaving Todd’s home, tonight I expect to sleep at KOTS, the internal work would put anyone I know in a saloon or hospital where no relief could be had, or it would kill anyone I know hopefully before insanity arrived. I tell myself, cheer up, things could get worse. Which is true. Things have been much worse, and there was no help for it, anywhere. Sloan

P.S.

The two man o’ war birds I saw over the KW police station yesterday, manifested in serious difficulties Kari is having in jail with some of the female inmates, which threaten to get her kicked out of the JIP program, which would be disastrous for her, and an incident at the bus stop yesterday afternoon.

As a SUV approached with a man driving and a woman in the passenger seat, I saw them start struggling physically. He reached over with his right hand and was pulling at her, his arm was on the left side of her face and neck, it looked really violent. As they passed me, she rolled the passenger window and begged me to call 911. The SUV reached the intersection and turned right, me following on foot, and the SUV pulled over and parked. I walked to the passenger side of the SUV and told the woman to get out of the vehicle, get away from him. I was calling the cops. She said he was law enforcement, she wasn’t getting out. Call 911. He got out, walked behind the SUV and sat down on the curb, pulled out his wallet and showed me a badge. I told him I didn’t care if he was a cop or not, I was calling 911. Which I did. When the dispatcher answered, I handed my cell phone to the woman and told her to tell the dispatcher what was going on. The woman said she could not do that, she loved him. I closed my cell phone, said I had terminated the call. I went over to the man and told him I had seen him roughing her up. No, he said, they were wrestling over her cell phone. He did not rough her up. He had known her since they were in 9th grade, he had never roughed her up. His story might have been true, they could have been wrestling over a cell phone, I said, but I saw his hand and arm on her face and neck. No, I didn’t see that. Yes, I saw that, but I was doing something for him cops had not done for me, I was giving him a pass because she would not talk to the 911 dispatcher. He got up and walked to her side of the SUV and started giving her hell, verbally. After a while of that, I told him to separate from her. Which he reluctantly did. Then another fellow came up, whom he recognized, as my cell phone was ringing. I saw it was coming from a 305 area code, I figured it was the cops. I did not answer. He said the fellow just arriving was a cop, I figured a friend of his wife. Plain clothes, perhaps off duty. The new fellow went over and started talking with the woman. I called the number back, it was the police station. I said, yes, I had made the call. I told what I had seen, but the woman would not tell the dispatcher what was going on, so I terminated the call. Who was I? It doesn’t matter, I said. Where am I? Not going to say, I said. But we need to see the woman, that she is alright, the caller said. She’s alright, I’m here looking at her. She is not injured. I’m signing off, I said, and did. The man said the cops would come, they have GPS, can find where we are. Please don’t leave, he needs me to say what happened. I said I’m waiting on a bus to take me to Cudjoe Key, will someone take me there, if I stay? He said he didn’t know how that would happen. I said, then I’m not staying, and here is my bus coming now, come with me. I took a goodmorningkeywest.com business card out of my wallet and scribbled my name and phone number down on it and handed it to him as I got onto the bus. I was not called later. Maybe the cops did not come. He was a Florida Fish & Wildlife officer, not a regular cop, but F & W are law enforcement officers nonetheless, can make arrests, put people in jail.

If I had not stayed another night with Todd, I would not have been at that bus stop yesterday, and I would not have been involved in that fun domestic bliss. Maybe the state should pass a law against fighting over a cell phone while driving, to keep the no texting while driving law company.

I replied:

The thing in the jail sounds, from what Kari has told me, to be rooted in jail politics, reminds me of homeless shelter politics, KOTS and Florida Keys Outreach Coalition, both staff and inmates. However, I imagine the politics in the jail might be more intense, inmates can be put in lock down. In homeless shelters, clients only can be expelled. From what Kari told me, it sounds like the JIP program is using no-holds-barred encounter group dynamics, which is contributing to the tension. Based on what she has told me, she has tried to lay low when she is among the general population, because she wants to complete the JIP program.

It is not possible for me to appreciate what Kari is experiencing, because I have never experienced it. But I have experienced homeless shelter politics in Key West, at their worse. The shelter I stayed in during the fall of 2001, in Birmingham, seemed free from all of that. The men were grateful to have a place to stay inside. We all did the chores, in rotation. Very different program, that one. Same for the homeless shelter in Kansas City, in which I spent 2 nights in early March 2005. The clients were glad to have it there, for them.

I replied:

Kari and I had a lovely visit in the jail yesterday, but when she called last night, we was frazzled from in-jail stuff after I left the jail.

She said it’s similar in the jail, to what happens when a person calls 911: the first inmate to run to a guard to complain about another inmate, the inmate who did not run to the guard tends to get the worst end of it.

She said when we visited yesterday, that she and I are getting pretty well known in the jail, because of my blog.

The things the angels get me into.

As for the husband/wife fracas yesterday, still haven’t heard a word about it, hope I don’t. Imagine that woman begging me to call 911, and then she wouldn’t talk with them. Cops see plenty of that kind of thing, and that’s why they don’t like getting involved in domestic disputes. I was glad to see the bus arrive and take me away. I suppose the angels timed the bus to come fetch me in the nick of time.

Email back and forth yesterday and today with Deer Ed, publisher of bigpinekey.com’s Coconut Teleglraph; Ed built the goodmorningkeywest.com and goodmorningfloridakeys.com websites, and taught me how to use them; now you know where to send the hit men.

Are you going to pay for the domain renewal that I already paid for?

I replied:

I asked you to resend that email, because I could not find it. I didn’t know what was in your email, other than it was about gmfk.com. I wish you had asked me before you renewed the domain name. I haven’t use that website for a good while, and money is really tight, I’m homeless, been living free at a friend’s home, but that’s over tomorrow it looks like.

Ed wrote today:

Here’s the invoice. I’ve never asked you once about renewals because if I remember you wanted it on auto renewal so you wouldn’t chance losing connectivity.
If you can’t pay don’t worry about it. Consider it a gift.
Good luck in your homeless old age.
Your friend,

[the cost of domain renewal is $35 per year]

I replied:

I did want auto renewal, and, in the past, you paid the bill and invoiced me. I won’t be broke forever, if I outlive the grim reaper’s advances for a while longer. I figure the angels still want me around to entertain them and rile up people here and there, also to entertain the angels. It must be really boring in heaven, is something that keeps coming to me. Maybe the Christians and Muslims and whoever else is looking forward to the afterlife, figuring their pleasant room, or house, or castle, or estate there is already assured, might wish to consider they are going to be really bored when they get there. I figure Eve was really bored, and that had something to do with her eating that thing she was not supposed to eat. Well, she probably was a lot less bored after she ate it. Thus have we mused, again, why everything is so screwed up on this planet, but boring it is not.

There’s no such thing, or God for that matter-all pure myth and invented to satisfy needy imaginations. I’ve concluded, after a lifetime of thought on the matter, that the only possibility is different dimensions. When ‘ghosts’ appear they come from a different dimension. When you’re sure you did something and find out you didn’t-that’s possibly an overlap between dimensions (or just forgetfulness). The same goes for most unexplained phenomena. i see no other possibility.

I replied:

Well, I agree humans invented God in their own image, to try to shrink God down to something they could control and understand, but having a bejillion personal tangos and waltzes with angels, I know they are for real, demons, too, ETs, too. But it’s encouraging to see you aren’t of the view that all there is, is one dimension. Maybe that will stave off this gal showing up in your bed one night. Besides, we all know you really do believe in angels; the second pic, which you doctored, proved that.

I caught a ride into Key West today with my gracious host for the past 4 months, Todd German, who let me stay in his home for free.

Todd FBToddTodd German

I told Todd, at Kari’s recommendation, I’m now reading a novel entitled LINCOLN MYTH, which is about a secret agreement the state representatives signed when they approved the U.S. Constitution, saying the states reserved the right to secede from the Union, if they felt the national government had gone bad, just as many of the same men had signed the Declaration of Independence, to secede from England, just after it had gone bad toward the 13 colonies, each of which was a sovereign state. The secret agreement was handed down, in secret, from U.S. President to U.S. President, and now, in the novel, the Mormon’s are trying to get their hands on it, so they can lead a secession movement in America.

The one of the Mormon bad guys, has been getting told what to do by an angel, he assumed was Moroni, said to have made the revelations to Joseph Smith, the first Mormon Prophet; but along the way in the tale, the angels reveals to the bad Mormon guy that he is the Prophet himself, Joseph Smith. How Abraham Lincoln got all tangled up in that, and the current US President and his secret covert team, I leave for people to read the novel, which I might finish today. Somehow, I don’t expect the see happy endings in the novel, or in this dimension, after that secession cat done gone and got let out of the bag.

I told Todd that I think a very good argument can be made that the states have the same right to secede as the 13 colonies had; otherwise, the Founding Father’s ended up betraying the very thing they argued for in the Declaration of Independence. And, I told Todd, I think that’s where the revolution probably will begin in America; states will simple secede, without asking the President or the Congress for permission.

en route to Key West today, Todd received a phone call from someone who is pushing for Key West to go to city-wide voting in city races, so that city commissioners run at large and are elected by all voters, instead only by voters in their voting districts. Todd told the caller he favored city-wide voting, had for some time, and the way to go about it is a petition drive to put the issue on the ballot in in 2106, it’s too late to try to get it on this year’s city races ballot. But, Todd said, first it should be put to the City Commission, for them to put it on the ballot, make them sweat. Todd told the caller, any city commissioner, or the mayor, can put a city-wide voting referendum item on a City Commission meeting agenda. If the City Commission then doesn’t put it on the ballot, start a petition drive to put it on the ballot.

Personally, I have not favored city-wide voting, because I felt it would disfranchise Bahama Village, the city’s predominately black neighborhood. However, I have not been thrilled with how the city commissioners in whose voting district Bahama Village lies, have represented Bahama Village, so perhaps I should not object to city-wide voting for city commissioners, like we have city-wide voting for mayor.

Darn, that would take a while. Try the autobiographical pages in the header. Ditto for header menu pages at www.goodmorningbirmingham.com. Hatched and raised there, eventually I ran away from home. Here's a short list: Born 1942; male; spoken for; accused of all sorts of imaginable and unimaginable things, perhaps some true. Live on Key West of Weird asteroid. Publish something most days at goodmorningkeywest.com, been at that since July 2007. That's heaps of catch-up reading, probably not recommended.
