Campaign Billboard — Aphrodite version

aphrodite.jpgThis reduction of a soul drawing that just up and jumped through me onto my drawing pad will be given to Aphrodite next time I see her in corporeal form. For those who do not know, she and a woman friend showed up on bicycles at Hometown PAC’s Call to Candidates, at Salute Restaurant on Higgs Beach, and yanked off their tank tops and hollered, “Nude Beaches in Key West! Sloan for Mayor!” Stopped the show, it did. A human photo of Aprohidite, topless, the  most looked for photo in the Keys, it was billed, appeared in the Solares Hill supplement of a later Sunday edition of Key West Citizen, our daily newspaper. Even later, a jealous female writer at the competing newspaper, the Keynoter, which publishes bi-weekly, took out after nude beaches in general, and Mark Howell in specific. Mark is the esteemed and enlightened Editor of Solares Hill. The woman journalist, later billed by me as a Miss Southern Baptist Convention contestant runner up, said Mark had been called on the carpet by higher ups at the Citizen, which owns Solares Hill, and told he could not do something like that again. I’ve sometimes heard God is coming back and She’s real pissed off! Meanwhile, Bravo, Mark Howell! Bravo! Meanwhile, I heard a rumor that Aphrodite above will be one side of a two-sided campaign billboard, the other side being the wicked creation of Sandy Downs found on the “Campaign Billboard–Ripley’s Believe It or Not version” page of this here website.
