Happy New Year! – there is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in; batshitcrazy grows in popularity, dead poets not yet down for the count; human beings or labels?; scary writing receives a helping hand; Pope Francis rushes in where angels fear to tread; “born-again” Christians die and go to Purgatory, Jesus followers die and go to heaven; the heart has its own reasons which reason knows nothing of; a prayer for Americans and America to do good ; a blue Christmas in Key West, humanity’s proxy for the coming rapture! :-)

Sancho Panza

Sancho Panza replied to yesterday’s inspired by the Holy Spirit, Pope Francis turned the world upside down, now remains how that plays out  post at this website:

Love you, man! I mean, I am glad that you are around…. I am sure I am not alone there!

A true lover of wisdom has hands too busy to hold on to anything! He learns by doing and every pebble in the path becomes her teacher! Oink

I replied:

Yeah, I think there are two other people who are glad I’m around, because that keeps them from thinking (and being told) they are the craziest people around :-)

bat shit crazy

Speaking of which, Connie Gilbert replied to the recent bless my soul, the Pope pronounced all believers die and go to heaven, and related manna from heaven droppings post at this website:

Connie Gilbert

Wild. I really (almost totally) agree with you. And Francis is the best pope John XXIII, whom I loved.

Pope Francis

Happy New Year.
Your Pagan Unitarian Jewish friend

I replied:

How about just being a human being? Labels are so limiting, as our friend Tim Gratz keeps proving.

I wrote to Vicki that I feel, if the Poetry Guild is going to return to the featured poet format at Guild poetry readings, then only poets not previously featured should be featured, starting with local poets, until they are all featured, then bring in outside new poets.

Connie wrote:

No problem with either, but many local poets don’t want to be featured. Everyone has been invited to sign up. Howard was a last minute fill-in for Sheri when she had to go upstate to care for her aunt. He spends a good deal of time here, Nance says. (According to my records, Sheri has never been featured.)

Poor Tim. He’s his own worst enemy.

Happy New Year anyway.

CS Gilbert, human being

I replied:

Me thinks Tim thinks too much :-)

Put me on the local featured poet volunteer list, I’ll try to behave if they let me do it :-)

I replied:

Thanks, Cuz – sometimes that works, sometimes I need a bigger hand, like really bigger, like HUGE :-)

I dreamt of your brother the other night, related to this going back and forth with Tim Gratz recently, re who dies and goes to heaven and who dies and burns forever in hell. In the dream, Robert (Bo) was receiving some medical treatments, then he was headed off to receive chiropratic adjustments.

I hoped that heralded a change in my goings on with Tim Gratz, whose views sort of remind me of Robert’s views.

Lo, Tim then tells me the Pope up and pronounced all believers go to heaven when they die. Tim got to flapping plenty about that, and I flapped plenty back, which all got into today’s post at goodmorningkeywest.com, link sent out already.

Re your other today:

“Good writing is always about things that are important to you, things that are scary to you, things that eat you up.”
—John Edgar Wideman

Yes, I have experienced that. I wonder how the Pope’s mega-nuke will influence scary writing?

I dreamed in a mid-day nap yesterday of playing bridge, and my right-hand opponent played to a trick, and my left-hand opponent played the king of diamonds out of turn before I played, and I said I was letting that play stand and was taking his king with my ace of diamonds. In my spirit code, diamonds represent the feminine, intuition, creativity, knowing, wisdom.

I awoke with this in my thoughts:

The heart has its own reasons which reason knows nothing of.

Heart Throb

Not long after the nap, I received yet another attempt by Tim Gratz to convince himself that his theory of who goes to heaven and who burns forever in hell is a bet he cannot lose and a bet I cannot win. I initially responded to Tim’s with “The heart has its own reasons which reason cannot know of.” Then, I pondered Tim’s some more, and I added some pics to his. Then, I slept on it last night, dreamt of spotting an attack from a fleet of airships hiding in the clouds, which I pointed out to my earth allies, and then I shot up the cockpit of the lead airship, blew out its windows, messed up its instruments, the pilot was helpless, I did not kill him, but I could have. I awoke and worked with the pics a little more, and added my own comments in the body of Tim’s email.

Christian crusades

There is no way you can disprove my theory of entrance to Heaven (of course it is just not my theory but I use mine and yours as a convenient shorthand.

Theory? You stake your soul’s well being on a Theory? Well, at least you finally admitted it’s a theory. Up to now, you have claimed it was the ABSOLUTE ETERNAL UNALTERABLE WORD OF GOD.

If I follow my theory and you do not and I am right I live in a mansion forever.

Thou shall not tempt the Lord thy God.

You, however . . .

since by your theory we will all ultimately get to heaven anyway.

No theory, mine, if you have eyes that see, ears that hear.

So I have absolutely nothing to lose by following my theory

You have everything to lose if you are wrong and others are misled and injured because they believed your theory and followed you.

You, however, have absolutely everything to lose if you fail to follow my theory and it turns out I am right.

Get thee behind me, Satan.

And if you follow mine and it is wrong, you too lose nothing since you still get to heaven under your rejected theory.

Thou shall not tempt the Lord thy God.

It does not take a rocket scientist to determine which course is the safest.

You got that right, here’s your course.

One could make an analogy of taking two riders [roads?] at speed in the dark. One road MIGHT lead to a sheer cliff and a five hundred feet dive in to the Ocean but the other road is sure to lead to safety. Mine because even if I am wrong I am saved by yours,

To be saved by what you call my road, you have to live as Jesus lived, as Peter lived. Are you doing that? If not, you end up in something like Purgatory when you leave this life, and that can last a while.

cuckoo's nest

Better put, one road might lead to safety but might also lead to oblivion.

Jesus’ road, which you actually have to walk, leads to the Kingdom of God; your road leads to something like Purgatory.

The other road always leads to safety

The other road (yours) leads to something like Purgatory.

There is no rational reason to take the risk.

If you are a Christian, there is every reason to take the road Jesus walked.

“Therefore whosoever hears these sayings of mine, and does them, I will liken him unto a wise man, who built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that hears these sayings of mine, and does them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.”

  • Sloan Bashinsky If God answers the prayer, will Americans like God’s response? A little over a year ago, I was asked to make a prayer for a Divine Intervention of the feminine into USA. I made the prayer, then came Hurricane Sandy, Sandyhook School massacre, which the angels told me were karma, respectively, for America’s reaction to 9/11 and Barack Obama’s drone wars. The other day, the new Pope pronounced everyone who does good gets into heaven after this life is over. Maybe a good prayer is for everyone in American and America itself to do good.

Back down here at the tip end of the asteroid belt, I told Naja and Arnaud Girard (www.thebluepaper.com) the other day,

NajaArnaud Girard

that, in the Thanksgiving Day dead suspected homeless tourist case they have been investigating and reporting, they are getting a crash course in what every homeless person in Key West knows about the Key West Police.

homeless bust

Here again is the link to Arnaud and Naja’s most recent article.

That article contains links to all their prior reporting on the dead Thanksgiving Day tourist, and the video taken by a bystander, which broke the case open. Readers comments on this week’s article are not kind to Key West. Here’s my last comment to this week’s article:

the beatings will continue

A new law will not affect what happened. All that will affect what happened is a real investigation and all the facts becoming public knowledge. If that happens, it will be because of the blue paper.

It seems there still are eye-witnesses who have not come forward. What does the entire video taken by the bystander look like? Only a segment was slipped to the blue paper, and I understand it is not known who shot the video.

Based on my past experience as a lawyer and as a human, not the same thing, the KWPD will circle the wagons tight, cops who know what really went down will not tell it, either out of loyalty to the the police brotherhood, or out of fear of reprisal from KWPD officials or other cops.

What do you call it when cops with guns drawn force an unarmed suspected homeless man to lie face down on a beach and they close in on him and grab him and cuff him and one cop puts a knee into the face-down man’s shoulder and the face-down man suffocates and dies? What if he had been in water instead. Would that have made it different?

Definitely, it is homicide, not suicide, not death from natural or self-inflicted causes. Perhaps it’s better to call it homicide, which sounds bad enough. [A reader had repeatedly called it murder and another reader, Eliot Baron, had said that might be too strong.]

[State Attorney] Cathy Vogel, ultimately, will decide whether or not to prosecute, and whom to prosecute, and what kind of homicide to call it. If Vogel does not go forward, perhaps the Florida Department of Legal Enforcement, or the dead man’s bereaved family will be able to persuade Governor Scott to appoint a Special Prosecutor in investigate and then decide whether or not to prosecute and for what crime.

I doubt we have heard all the bad news yet, and I imagine we will be learning about that in future issues of the blue paper. This kind of case and the blue paper’s investigating and reporting is what Pulitzer Prizes for Journalism are awarded for.

I imagine the KW Chamber of Commerce, the Tourist Development Council, Key West business owners [like] Eliot Baron, and the city commissioners and mayor are thrilled for the city to receive this much publicity – Facebook is eating it up, I hear. Makes the Bill O/Reilly documentary slamming Key West seem like a Nobel Peace Prize in comparison.

Arnaud said most people he talks with about his editorial cartoon in this week’s edition don’t get the point.

homeless tourist ad

I said perhaps they are using too much cocaine, crack, or whatever is their favorite street drug, a reference to Arnaud telling me maybe two months ago that nearly every mainstream person they know in Key West uses street drugs regularly. Arnaud did not mean booze, the legal street drug in Key West,

no problem, if you aren't homeless

unless you happen to be homeless.

Perhaps I imagined it, perhaps there is nothing to it, but it keeps coming to me that, because Key West is an international multi-racial, multi-faith, multi-sexual-orientation, multi-morals city,

ship of fools

and because it is the only city on the planet to make One Human Family its official creed,

About Sloan

Darn, that would take a while. Try the autobiographical pages in the header. Ditto for header menu pages at www.goodmorningbirmingham.com. Hatched and raised there, eventually I ran away from home. Here's a short list: Born 1942; male; spoken for; accused of all sorts of imaginable and unimaginable things, perhaps some true. Live on Key West of Weird asteroid. Publish something most days at goodmorningkeywest.com, been at that since July 2007. That's heaps of catch-up reading, probably not recommended.
