Last night, I had a nice time with a somewhat younger couple at Looe Key Tiki Bar’s open mike night, at which local professional musicians jam (every Tuesday night).
The couple is from Birmingham, Alabama, my hometown. I stumbled into them at Coco’s Kitchen the other day. She graduated from Auburn, he from Alabama. They winter in the RV campground on Ohio Key, just below Seven Mile Bridge. They are down for a couple of weeks, before heading back. I figured when I met them that there was something about Birmingham in the wind, but so far, it’s still in the wind.
I watched a video someone had emailed about the impending end of the US dollar being the reserve currency for the world, due to the fact that America is not making enough money to buy its goods and cover is debts, and is printing money to do that. If the US dollar stops being the internal exchange currency, the dollar will become irrelevant outside of the America and American’s will pay though the nose for imported goods. Americans who have not already put their wealth into gold, silver, copper, diamonds, land, etc. will be wiped out by hyper-inflation, was the bottom line of the video. I majored in Economics at Vanderbilt. I have known since then that a country which prints money to cover its debt obligations will crash and burn. Oddly, nothing in the video about America’s military spending being a big reason for America spending money it does not have, and paying for it by printing more money.
Who ends up with the $5 donations?

COME BY LAND AND BY SEA
Let’s turn up the heat in a march to Governor Rick Scott’s home to stop new oil drilling in South Florida. Collier leased 115,000 acres for oil exploration to Hughes Oil, who applied for permits to set up a drill site in Golden Gate Estates — 1000 feet from family homes and adjacent to the Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge and Western Everglades. We say, NO oil drilling in our backyards, in our panther habitats, and in our protected wetlands. If it’s legal, it shouldn’t be. New oil drilling will endanger residents, water, wetlands, and wildlife as well as contribute to environmentally damaging climate change.Facebook @ Preserve our Paradisehttps://www.facebook.com/events/581706661871668/

Little Torch –that project–writing is all-
consuming, now. The article I wrote for Mark
Howell sums up the biology of the devastating
effects of silt—that was 9 years ago.
We happen to be the most SHALLOW harbor

Cruise ships—”Light is Life”–that article
spells out the basic biology–and the Cruise
ships damage and destroy the marine environment

cherish; the article LIGHT IS LIFE spells it out,
in detail —scientifically, it is fact. now I must
devote my time to completing my book–that
chronicles the immense negative changes.—-Jerry
Then, to toss a little more spice into the mix, this morning I received an email from a Birmingham friend, who said he was out for a walk in his Sloan for mayor T-shirt which I had sent to him in 2009.
Did I forget to mention above that the soup of the day yesterday at Coco’s kitchen was chickpea soup, and I told Rose I was not up for that and drove down to Looe Key Tike Bar to catch up with the couple from Birmingham and listen to seriously good music?
They drank Tanqueray martinis, I had ale and ginger with twist of lime. I told the couple that it’s evil for someone to live in the Keys and not be able to drink beer, at least.
